NEW RACE: ELECTRIC RUN

The new trendy 5K in 2013, is the Electric Run! Tonight this race hits San Diego (Del Mar) not too far from our hotel and I was totally down to join this rave 3.1, until I took one look at the price--$60.

Sixty bucks for a 5K? Seriously?

Which leads me to my next question:
WOULD YOU SHELL OUT $60 FOR A 3-MILE JAUNT?
I would have loved to run this race, but I just can't justify spending that kind of money when I could run a half marathon for the same price.

WILL YOU PENCIL THIS RUN INTO YOUR RACING SCHEDULE?
Try to register early to get a "cheaper" price (click here) in their upcoming cities,  I'm hoping to catch it in Chicago!

**HERE'S A POINTER FROM AMY P. (SHE ALSO GAVE ME THE HAT TIP ABOUT THIS RACE): IT'S CHEAPER TO REGISTER AS A TEAM OR IF YOU REGISTER EARLY IT WILL BE MORE LIKE $40 (versus $60) AND YOU'LL RECEIVE A RACE TEE AND GLOW IN THE DARK MERCH TO WEAR THE DAY OF THE EVENT.**

RETIRE THE FINISHER'S MEDAL

I recently read this GREAT article online and I couldn't agree more with the subject or the title--

My reasoning falls on the fact if the heavy finisher's medal(s) are dumped, maybe registration to many of these races wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?: WOULD YOU LIKE THE FINISHER'S MEDAL TO STAY (AND POSSIBLY BECOME LIFE-SIZED) OR WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THEM KICKED TO THE CURB?

TUNEAGE

I also stumbled across this post featuring "The Top 100 Running Songs of All Time."

I actually think this list is pretty legit, but maybe that's because I have a large portion of these mainstream hits already on my running playlist and because I don't mind hearing songs played over and over and over again (radio and iPod included).

I'm down for anything with a fast beat that can get my legs movin' and groovin'.

I'm looking forward to reviewing this playlist, adding some more tuneage and putting my iTunes gift card to good use (Thanks, Mom)!

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LISTEN TO WHILE RUNNING?

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS?
