I love you, TJ
Today, I'd like to profess my love for Trader Joe's.
Another reason to live in California? Because there's one of these bad boys on just about every corner. Back in my hometown, you have to drive at least thirty minutes (on a good traffic day) to get to a TJ's "across the river" in Missouri.
I could spend all day in this store and still find something new the next time I come in.
My mega salad this afternoon was their signature "Crisp Pasadena Salad with Chicken" made with a mix of romaine and iceberg lettuce, grilled chicken, toasted almonds, rice noodles, sesame seeds and then I sprinkled some dried cranberries and chia seeds on top. Delicious.
Speaking of all things delish, here are a few other gems I purchased the other day:
Chia Seeds: I'm on a chia seed kick lately, sprinkling them into my OJ, salads, oatmeal, smoothies, etc. I actually really like the texture as it can thicken your smoothies and I guess the extra dose of Omega-3 and fiber is cool too.
Strawberry Chia: Dreamboat. Lots of calories (340 for the bottle) but packed with 4,000 mg of Omega-3 ALA, 440 mg of potassium, pure liquid strawberry goodness sprinkled with chia seeds to give that tasty texture I dig. Perfect after a long run, I'd take this over a daquiri any day.
Coconut Oil: This seems to be the craze lately, so I'm looking forward to trying it out and weighing in. Is it trendy? Or true? I've read articles from coconut oil's positive affects on Alzheimer's patients, to substituting it for your regular cooking oil, the glow it brings to your skin when you apply it as moisturizer, the strength it can bring to your hair when you apply it to your split it ends and so on and so on..
Here are a couple great articles I've read thus far on the uses of coconut oil:
Now the best for last...
The ultimate pairing for your red wine, Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Covered Pomegranate Seeds. DANGEROUS.
Let's just say I'm already on my second container...shhhhh.
